NORFOLK, Va. (April 22, 2026) – The MEAC uncovered its tennis all-academic team where Howard University saw eight Bison acknowledged for their academic excellence off the court. The announcement came Wednesday morning.
To be eligible, MEAC sophomores, juniors and seniors must hold a cumulative 3.0 grade point average or higher. Transfer student-athletes must have at least one year of residence at their respective institutions to be eligible.
This year's honorees included
Hanna Dessie (Los Angeles),
Dana Hall (Miami),
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.),
Kendrick Lash (Winston-Salem, N.C.),
Michael Major Jr (Nassau, Bahamas),
Lauren Oliver (Winston-Salem, N.C.),
Selah Stibbins (Minneapolis) and
Shawn Mitchell Yon (Queens, N.Y.).
Collectively, the league honored 61 student-athletes from its elite eight member institutions for their outstanding academic achievements during the 2025-26 academic year.
On April 23-25, both squads are set to compete at the MEAC Tennis Championships in Cary, N.C. HU women meet reigning MEAC Champion South Carolina State Thursday (April 23) at 11 a.m. Later that day, the Bison men face rival Morgan State at 2 p.m.
