WASHINGTON (July 12, 2026) – Howard University tennis standout
Kamran McIntosh-Ross (Atlanta) led Team Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) to a promotion spot at the 2026 Davis Cup. The four-day event took place at the Rakiura Resort in Luque, Paraguay.
T&T swept the round-robin format, winning both matches. Saturday (July 11), the squad knocked off U.S. Virgin Islands and earned a promotion spot for next year's Davis Cup Americas Group III.
In the playoff round, McIntosh-Ross outlasted U.S. Virgin Islands' Yared Alfred in three sets (6-7, 6-3, 7-6).
Aruba secured the other promotion spot with a team victory over Cuba.
The Davis Cup, often called the World Cup of Tennis, is the premier annual international men's team tennis competition, organized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). Over 150 countries compete annually in this prestigious team event.
McIntosh-Ross competed primarily as the club's No. 2 singles player a year ago but won a pair of matches in the No. 1 slot. Last year, the Atlanta native's doubles partner and All-MEAC selection
Michael Major Jr (Nassau, Bahamas) represented Team Bahamas in the 2025 Davis Cup.
