Tennis Gears Up for annual Spring Break Rodeo

Bison set to play three matches in three days

WASHINGTON (March 9, 2026) – Howard University men's and women's tennis teams gear up for their annual spring break rodeo with three matches in three days.
 
Tuesday (March 10), Howard men battle North Carolina Central on neutral site matchup in Orlando, Fla. The following day (March 11), HU women take on Hampton in the Sunshine State. Thursday (March 12), the Bison men wrap up with a showdown against Butler in D.C.
 
MATCHUP PREVIEWS
 
HOWARD
 
Howard men are seeking its first win of the season. Junior Michael Major Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) serves as the club's No. 1 singles player with a 1-3 mark.
 
HU women roll into spring break looking to built on a 4-2 win at George Mason (Feb. 28). Third-year Bison Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) competes in the top singles slot.
 
NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL
 
After starting the season 1-4, the North Carolina Central men's team has won three-out-of-its-last-four matchups, including a 6-1 victory over Edinboro, 6-1, Sunday (March 8).
 
Naresh Bharathy serves as the club's top singles player, competing in the top spot all seven contests.
 
HAMPTON
 
After beginning the spring year 0-2, the Hampton women's squad has won its last two matches, including victories over Chowan (March 1), 6-1, and Penn West (March 8), 7-0.
 
Serena Bryan, the Lady Pirates' top singles player, enters Wednesday's showdown with a 1-4 mark in singles play.    
 
BUTLER
 
Butler men's squad is looking to get back in the win column after dropping its last four matches.
 
Riccardo Baldi comes in as the Bulldogs' No. 1 singles player with an 8-12 overall record.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
On Feb. 14, HU men fell on the road at George Mason, 7-0.
 
On Feb. 28, the Bison women earned their first win of the year, defeating DMV rival George Mason in Fairfax, Va.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On March 25, HU hosts Longwood at the Banneker Recreation Center. First-serve at 4 p.m.
