LAST TIMEOUT

HOWARD

Howard opened its 2025 season Thursday night (Aug. 14) with a 2-0 loss to the University of North Florida (UNF) at Greene Stadium.

Reigning NEC Goalkeeper of the Year Trinity Knox (Atlanta) made her first save less than five minutes into the match and finished with seven saves in 90 minutes.

The Bison defense held off early pressure, including a blocked shot in the 14th minute, but UNF eventually broke through with a goal in the 17th minute.

Offensively, Gabriella Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.), the 2024 NEC Rookie of the Year, led the Bison with three shots (one on goal) while Jaileen De Freitas (Miramar, Fla.) also contributed with a first-half attempt.

Six different Bison recorded shots, but the team was unable to convert despite several promising sequences.

UNF added a second goal in the second half to seal the result.

HAMPTON

Hampton enters Sunday's matchup with several key returners from last season, including top scorers Ellen Van Caenegem (3 goals, 1 assist) and Nylah Jennings (2 goals, 2 assists).

Defensively, Keri Geter and Evan-Nichole Whitaker anchor the backline while Avery John, who started 10 matches in goal with a .709 save percentage, returns between the posts.

The Pirates look to build on last season's core and bring a balanced attack and experienced defense into the HBCU Invitational.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
