WASHINGTON (August 31, 2025) – Howard University women's soccer (2-2-1) posted their first draw of the season with a 1-1 finish against the Richmond Spiders (3-1-2) in Greene Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Notching her first goal as a Bison,
Demi Owens (Teaneck, N.J.) played clean up, taking the ball from the 40-yard line to the net, opening the scoring in the 35
th minute. Howard kept the Spiders in place to close the half with a 1-0 lead.
Richmond joined the scoring in the 50
th minute when a cross from the right side of the field bounced its way inside the box to a ready midfielder whose low right shot to the goal made it past the keep, 1-1.
Trinity Knox (Atlanta) finished the match with two saves in 90 minutes of play.
Offensively,
Asia Mickens-Perez (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and
Samantha James (Herndon, Va.) led the attack, registering two shots apiece.
Although low on fouls, the game proved to be a physical one as the Bison suffered multiple injuries.
The Bison return to the playing field Thursday, September 4, at 3 p.m., when they face the George Washington Revolutionaries across town.
