Women’s Soccer Heads Crosstown to Face George Washington

Bison looking to get back in the win column against Revolutionaries

WASHINGTON (September 3, 2025) – The Howard University women's soccer team turns its attention to a local rivalry showdown Thursday (Sept. 4) at 3 p.m. ET against George Washington University (GW) in Washington, D.C., streaming live on ESPN+.

Howard (2-2-1) enters Thursday's contest after a gritty home performance versus Richmond that ended in a 1-1 draw.
 
Demi Owens (Teaneck, N.J.) recorded her first goal as a Bison in the 35th minute, showcasing impressive footwork and hustle to carry the ball from midfield to the net.
 
Asia Mickens-Perez (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and Samantha James (Herndon, Va.) led the charge with two shots apiece.
 
Between the posts, two-time NEC Goalkeeper of the Year Trinity Knox (Atlanta) logged 90 minutes and two saves in a physical contest that saw multiple Bison suffer injuries.
 
Howard continues to build momentum with a balanced offense and a strong defensive core.
 
GEORGE WASHINGTON
 
George Washington (1-1-2) enters Thursday's home opener following a 4-1 road loss to Binghamton (Aug. 31).
 
The Revolutionaries surrendered three goals in the first half, including two from Paige Luke.
 
Despite a strong showing from goalkeeper Kate Silverstein, who registered a career-high seven saves, GW was unable to overcome the early deficit.
 
Jessica Robbert scored the team's lone goal on a penalty kick — her first collegiate goal. GW was outshot, 15-6, but earned four corners and limited fouls in the second half.
 
LAST TIMEOUT

On Aug. 31, Howard battled to a 1-1 draw against Richmond in a physically demanding match. The Bison took the lead before halftime but conceded the equalizer early in the second half. Despite multiple attacking chances, the match ended level.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
Following Thursday's game at GW, the Bison return home to face La Salle Sunday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m., inside Greene Stadium.
