WASHINGTON D.C. (February 13, 2025) - Howard University men's & women's tennis teams gear up for their weekend matchups at the WTEF (Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's) East Capitol Campus.

First, the women's team plays the Villanova Wildcats Friday (Feb. 14) at 12:30 p.m., followed by both teams playing the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) Saturday (Feb. 15) at 12:30 p.m.

Second-year Bison
Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) and
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) looks to lead the team through the back-to-back homestand.

Entering this season, HU was projected to finish second in league behind reigning league champion South Carolina State (SCSU). The program returns all 10 student-athletes, including five All-MEAC selections.

The team looks to build on the hard-fought effort they put up last week and carry it into this week's matchup.

VILLANOVA WOMEN

The Wildcats look to bounce back from their 4-3 loss to Navy (Feb. 9). This will be their second match of a back-to-back, following their meeting with Drexel in Philadelphia.

UDC WOMEN

The Firebirds come into this matchup after a long hiatus with Friday's showdown being the first contest of the spring season.

They finished their fall season 6-3, led by two top ranked players in the region, Polina Zelenstova (6
th) and Desire Parn (13
th).

The men's team also comes into their matchup not having played since the fall season.

They ended their fall season, 1-1, and come into the spring season ranked third in the East Coast Conference.

On Feb. 8, the women's team looks to bounce back from a loss against the Maryland Terrapins, 7-0, in College Park, Md.

The men's team fell to 1-3 after a hard-fought loss at Delaware (Feb. 1), 7-0.

Following these matchups, the women's team will play back-to-back matches against Mount St. Mary's (Feb. 21) and Longwood (Feb. 22), respectively.
