WASHINGTON, DC - Howard women's soccer is set to face top-seeded Duke University on Friday, November 15th at 6 PM in Koskinen Stadium.
The Bison made history throughout the year, capping the regular season with their first Northeast Conference (NEC) title. The Bison went on to defeat FDU 2-1 Sunday afternoon to advance to their third NCAA Tournament and first appearance since joining the NEC.
Howard sits 11-4-5 overall after going 8-1-1 in conference play. The Bison are led by NEC Coach of the Year
Brent Leiba, Defensive Player of the Year
Rachel Suttle (Smyrna, Ga.), Midfielder of the Year
Samantha James (Herndon, Va.), two-time Goalkeeper of the Year
Trinity Knox (Atlanta), and Rookie of the Year
Gabriella Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.).
Duke earned the No. 1 seed after going 14-2-1 overall and 9-0-1 in the ACC. The matchup will mark the Blue Devils' 29th tournament appearance.
The matchup will serve as the first meeting between the two teams.
First-round matches will be played November 15th-17th, while the second and third rounds will take place November 22nd &Â 24th. The winner of Friday's match advances to the second round to face the winner of LSU (9-8-3) vs. Texas Tech (14-4-2). The NCAA Final will be played on December 9th at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, Nc.
