WASHINGTON (April 23, 2021) – Howard University men's tennis team heads to Norfolk, Va., for the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships, held on the campus of the Old Dominion University (ODU).
HU battles South Carolina State (SCSU) in the MEAC Semifinals Saturday (April 24) at noon.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
Howard enters the tourney riding a two-match winning streak, including a victory over rival Coppin State Saturday (April 17), which earned the squad a postseason berth. The squad is seeking their first league title since 1990 after winning four straight conference championships (1987-90).
HU arrives as the No. 2 seed from the MEAC Northern Division where they will face top-seeded South Carolina State out of the Southern Division.
Norfolk State, MEAC Northern Division Champion, meets North Carolina A&T State, No. 2 South, in the other semifinals.
Winners will square off Sunday (April 25) at noon.
ACE-A-THON
During the 2021 MEAC Championships, Director of Tennis
Nicholas Askew and the tennis program will be conducting an "Ace-A-Thon" where Bison Nation have an opportunity to give back while the team makes their title run.
"Funds from the Ace-A-Thon will help enhance our technology capabilities by securing much needed video based equipment for training and match analysts," said Askew. "This upgrade will bring us on pace with the nation's top programs. Thank you Bison Nation for your continuous support!"

Saturday (April 17), the Bison defeated CSU, 5-2, at the CSU Tennis Complex. With the win, HU clinched a berth to the MEAC Tournament in Norfolk, Va.
