WASHINGTON (August 23, 2018) - Following last weekend's win/loss road split in Ohio, the women's soccer team is set for their first home game tomorrow against Yale University.
"We are looking forward to playing a very good Yale team. They are one of the top Ivy League programs and our team is very excited about the upcoming challenge," said head coach Brent Leiba.
The Bulldogs have an advantage returning their three top scorers from 2017, including Ivy League Offensive MVP Michelle Alozie. Last season, the Bulldogs won 11 games and finished third in their conference. In its inaugural Ivy League preseason poll, Yale was projected to finish fourth this year.
Howard is off to a solid start with a 1-1-0 record. Senior forward Jasmin Miller received the SWAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring in both games last week. The Bison ultimately lost to Cleveland State in overtime, 2-1; however, they responded with a shutout of Youngstown State, 2-0. Freshman defender Kendall Macauly received SWAC Defensive Player of the Week. Expectations are high for the Bison this season with three of their players: Whitney White, Aleeya Sawyer and Kendall Hamilton being named to All-SWAC teams. In the SWAC preseason poll Howard was predicted to finish third in its conference.
Game time is 7 p.m. in Greene Stadium.
