WEST HAVEN, Conn. (September 20, 2026) — Howard University women's soccer team grabbed its first win of the 2026 season, edging out New Haven (UNH), 2-1, in a pivotal NEC opener.

Jaidyn Curry (Lorton, Va.) got HU on the board first, 1-0, thanks to an assist from freshman standout
Dominique Desert (Park Ridge, N.J.).
At the 30-minute mark, UNH (1-7-1, 0-1 NEC) responded with a goal from Emily Marco, 1-1.
After intermission, both squads were in a stalemate until third-year Bison forward
Sinclaire Green (Ellicott City, Md.) delivered the go-ahead score at the 78-minute mark, 2-1.
From there, Howard's backline kept New Haven off the board to secure a hard-fought victory.

Trinity Knox (Atlanta) tallied a match-leading seven saves in the win.
Both clubs took 11 shots apiece with junior forward
Adora Nwosu (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) registering a team-high three attempts for the Bison. Grace Simpson and Emma Mitchell recorded three shots each for the Chargers.
On Sept. 27, Howard (1-4-2, 1-0 NEC) continues NEC play at Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
