STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (September 27, 2026) — Howard University women's soccer (1-5-2, 1-1 NEC) dropped a 1-0 conference matchup to Wagner (3-5-2, 2-0 NEC) Sunday afternoon at Hameline Field.
Wagner applied pressure early, earning a pair of corner kicks within the opening 11 minutes.
Trinity Knox (Atlanta) made her first save of the afternoon at the 9:53 mark, stopping a shot from the top-left portion of the box.
Howard generated its first shot in the 20
th minute when
Asia Mickens-Perez (Upper Marlboro, Md.) sent an attempt wide right.
Knox continued to keep Wagner off the scoreboard, making saves in the 22
nd and 26
th minutes before another Wagner attempt went wide.
The Bison created additional opportunities late in the opening half with
Maya Blackston (Alexandria, Va.) putting a shot over the goal in the 33
rd minute while Knox made three more saves during the final 10 minutes of the period.
The two teams entered halftime in a scoreless draw.
Howard came out aggressively in the second half.
Hailey Smith (Hayward, Calif.) tested the Wagner goalkeeper just 15 seconds after the restart, forcing a save.
Demi Owens (Teaneck, N.J.) followed with a shot that went wide right in the 47
th minute.
The Bison continued to push forward with
Jaidyn Curry (Lorton, Va.) sending a shot over the goal in the 55
th minute and
Imani Kissi (Dublin, Ohio) putting an attempt wide right in the 58
th minute.
Knox remained steady in goal, recording saves in the 50
th and 63
rd minutes to preserve the scoreless match. Howard held Wagner without a goal through the midway point of the second half.
Howard continued to create chances as the match moved into the final 20 minutes.
Nadia Bolden (Charlotte, N.C.) sent a shot wide left in the 71
st minute before
Alauna Rutland (Fairfax, Va.) forced a save in the 74
th minute.
Wagner broke through in the 77
th minute, scoring to take a 1-0 lead.
The Bison immediately looked for the equalizer. Kissi forced another save in the 82
nd minute while Howard earned back-to-back corner kicks shortly afterward.
Howard continued to battle through the closing minutes but could not find the equalizer before the final whistle.
Knox finished with nine saves while Howard recorded three shots on goal. Kissi led the Bison with two shots, including one on target, while Smith and Rutland each put one shot on frame.
Howard returns to Greene Stadium Thursday, Oct. 1, hosting Central Connecticut State at 1 p.m.
