FREDERICK, Va. (February 4, 2018) – Howard University Men's Tennis team fell against the Longwood Lancers, 7-0, in a neutral site match. The contest was part of the Mary Washington Invitational.
Similar in their last match, the Bison were shorthanded; thus, losing points in doubles and singles competitions.
After taking both doubles matches, the Lancers won all five singles matchups. Howard's junior
Karim Shokeir served as the squad's No. 1 singles player where he lost to the No. 122 player in the country Amadio Blasco in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).
Sophomore
Cole Gittens fought, but Longwood's Valentin Popescu would hold off the New York native to win in two sets (6-3, 7-5).
Friday (Feb. 9), Howard goes to Williamsburg, Va., where SEC foe South Carolina awaits in a neutral site contest.
