CONFERENCE RELEASEWASHINGTON, DC --- Howard women's soccer seniors
Treschelle Gibson-Serrette &
Kyra Dickinson have once again earned weekly honors from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
The league office announced that Gibson-Serrette has been named this week's Defensive Athlete of the Week and Dickinson has been tabbed as the Goalkeeper of the Week.
Gibson-Serrette & Dickinson were the linchpins of a 2-0 slate this past week for Howard. The duo helped Lady Bison shut out Prairie View A&M (1-0) and Texas Southern (3-0) on October 17 & 19, respectively and move into first place in the conference with a 7-1 record in SWAC play. Dickinson only needed to make six saves all weekend (all against PVAMU) thanks to the defensive efforts of Gibson-Serrette and the Lady Bison unit.
The awards are the second each for the senior tandem and sixth overall for Women's Soccer this season - senior midfielder
Nia Walcott has also won two SWAC Athlete of the Week awards, both Offensive.
It has been a outstanding week for both the Women's and Men's soccer teams in terms of accolades. The honors for
Gibson-Serrette & Dickinson mark the fourth and fifth combined awards for the two programs this week, after
Kyle Celestine and Eric Hamilton picked up Sun Belt and College Sports Madness awards on October 21.
