WASHINGTON (November 1, 2025) – Howard University women's soccer team closes out the regular season on the road Sunday (Nov. 2) when it travels to Teaneck, N.J., for a pivotal NEC matchup against FDU. Kickoff is set for noon as the Bison look to finish strong heading into the postseason.

MATCHUP PREVIEW

HOWARD (9–5–3, 7–1–2 NEC)

Howard enters Sunday's contest on a four-match unbeaten streak following a dominant 5–0 Senior Night victory over Saint Francis (Oct. 30).

The Bison exploded, offensively, in the second half, scoring all five goals in the final 26 minutes. Sophomore Alauna Rutland (Fairfax, Va.) opened the scoring before Gabriella Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.) doubled the lead with her ninth goal of the season. Seniors Mia Young (Sunrise, Fla.), Rachel Suttle (Smyrna, Ga.) and Saliyah Brady (Atlanta) each found the net to complete the scoring outburst.

Goalkeeper Trinity Knox (Atlanta) made one save to earn her sixth shutout of the season as the Bison outshot the Red Flash, 26–4, and generated a 12–2 edge in shots on goal.

The win capped a memorable Senior Night that honored eight graduating players and solidified Howard's hold on second place in the NEC standings.

A win Sunday would give Howard its highest conference win total since joining the NEC and position the Bison for a top-two seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

FDU (8–5–5, 8–0–2 NEC)

FDU enters the matchup unbeaten in league play after a 0–0 draw against LIU. With that result, the Knights clinched at least a share of the NEC Regular Season Championship, marking their fifth title in program history.

Led by head coach Eric Teepe, FDU has been one of the conference's most balanced teams, boasting a disciplined back line and a consistent attack that averages over 10 shots per match.

Against LIU, the Knights controlled possession but were unable to convert scoring chances, producing 10 total shots while limiting the Sharks to just two.

Goalkeeper performance was a key factor as LIU's four saves preserved the draw. FDU has not been shut out in 14 consecutive matches and will be motivated to close the regular season with an outright championship and home-field advantage in the NEC Tournament.

LAST TIMEOUT

Howard earned a 5–0 shutout win over Saint Francis Thursday night. Five Bison scored and Knox recorded her sixth clean sheet of the year.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

The Bison will await the official NEC Tournament bracket, set to be announced following the
conclusion of Sunday's regular season matches. Postseason play begins Thursday, Nov. 6.
