Box Score 2 WASHINGTON, DCÂ --- The Howard University Women's Soccer & Volleyball teams played host to a pair of familiar foes this evening on campus and emerged victorious after both contests.
Women's Soccer earned a 2-1 win over Delaware State University at Greene Stadium while Volleyball fought off Norfolk State for a 3-1 triumph at Burr Gymnasium.

Playing in a steady downpour, Howard saw Delaware State strike first in the eighth minute as junior goalkeeper
Kyra Dickinson misplayed a shot by DSU's Chelsea Boursiquot, giving the Hornets a 1-0 lead.

Sandra Bond evened the score eight minutes later, taking a shot from the 40-yard line and arching it into the back of the net for her first goal of the season. Fellow freshman
Zion Clarke added her team-high fourth goal in the 27th minute to give Howard some separation
VOLLEYBALL 3, NORFOLK STATE 1
At the same time, the Howard Volleyball team found itself in a marathon MEAC North battle against the Spartans of Norfolk State. The Lady Bison cruised through the first set en route to a 25-14 victory. NSU would step up early in the second set and force Howard into a back and forth fight for the lead, eventually winning the game 31-29.
The third set played out much like the second but Howard would gain the upper hand, winning the set 30-28, and finishing off the Spartans in the fourth, 25-21.
Freshman
Dominique Cleggett led three Lady Bison in double digit kills with 17 while juniors
Assata Conway and
Destinee Harrison added 15 and 11 kills respectively. Junior
Stephanie Shultis logged 51 assists and was one of three players with double digit digs (10), along with freshman
Katherine Broussard (19) and junior
Allyson Lods' team-high 20.
Women's Soccer will return to action on Thursday, October 17 with a home matchup against South Carolina State at 5:30 PM, while Volleyball welcomes Coppin State this Sunday, October 13 for a 3:00 PM tilt.
