NORFOLK, Va. (March 31, 2026) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its women's tennis weekly honors where Howard University freshman standout
Franchesca Brown (Atlanta) claimed the league's Rookie of the Week award. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.
Brown, a two-time MEAC Rookie of the Week recipient, earned a singles win in conference play over North Carolina Central's (NCCU) Valeria San Miguel. In doubles competition, she posted a perfect 3–0 record, alongside junior
Lauren Oliver (Winston-Salem, N.C.), earning victories over Longwood (March 27), NCCU (March 28) and Norfolk State (March 29).
Oliver received honorable mention after recording a 2-1 record in singles with wins over Longwood and NCCU.
Norfolk State junior Regina Urbiola was named MEAC Player of the Week.
Thursday (April 2), HU goes to Baltimore to face Loyola (Md.). Match time is slated for 2 p.m. The following day (April 3), Howard welcomes Delaware State for a MEAC showdown.
