Brown, Stibbins Grabs Wins Versus Morgan State

Lady Bears spoil senior day

WASHINGTON (April 13, 2026) – Howard University senior Selah Stibbins (Minneapolis) and freshman Franchesca Brown (Atlanta) each recorded singles victories, but the Morgan State (MSU) Lady Bears spoiled senior day with a 5-2 win over the Bison in D.C.

Before the contest, Bison Director of Tennis Nicholas Askew, Associate Head Coach Zach Tobias and member of the team recognized Stibbins for her hard work and dedication to the program, Howard Athletics and The University.

The Minneapolis native competed in the No. 4 singles slot, topping MSU's Damla Arslan in straight sets (6-4, 6-4).

Brown knocked off Morgan State's Julia Jeffrey in straight sets (6-3, 6-0), competing in the No. 2 singles position.

Third-year Bison Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and rookie Chloe Goins (Burr Ridge, Ill.) battled, but dropped tough three-set bouts, respectively.

MSU (13-7, 5-1 MEAC) won the other two singles matches in straight sets.

In doubles play, Jean and DMV native freshman Camille Hall (Bowie, Md.) represented Bison Nation as the club's top doubles squad where they blanked the Lady Bears' Lauryn Hall and Marta Serra-Carles, 6-0.

Morgan State rallied to win the other two doubles contest, taking a 1-0 match advantage into singles competition.

Monday's clash was originally scheduled to be played at the Banneker Recreation Center but moved close to match time due to wet court surfaces. The showdown was held at the Southeast Tennis & Learning Center (STLC) in D.C.

On April 18, HU closes out the regular season at John Hopkins. First-serve is slated for 4 p.m., in Baltimore.
