Men’s Golf Continues West Coast Trip at The Godwin

Bison set to compete at annual event in California

WASHINGTON (March 25, 2026) - Howard University men's golf team heads to the Golden State (Stanford, Calif.)  for The Godwin, hosted by Stanford. The three day (March 26-28), 54-hole tournament will be played at the Stanford Golf Course.

HISTORY
 
This is the 57th installment of The Goodwin, formerly named the U.S. Collegiate Invitational but was renamed in 2014 to Wally Goodwin, who coached the Cardinals from 1987-2000. Under Goodwin's leadership, Stanford won the NCAA Championship for the first time since 1953 and two conference titles. Goodwin won the National Coach of the Year award and the Pac-10 Coach of the Year award twice. Goodwin played a huge role in reviving the Stanford program.
 
For a second-consecutive season, The Goodwin is back at Stanford Golf Course after being held at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco for the past two years.
 
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
 
The tournament will feature 30 collegiate programs: Howard; Stanford; Little Rock; Boise State; BYU; Cal Poly; California; Cincinnati; Colorado; Colorado State; Eastern Michigan; Georgia Tech; Grand Canyon; Hawaii-Hilo; Long Beach State; Nevada; New Mexico; Northwestern; Oregon; Pacific; San Diego State; San Jose State; Santa Clara; SMU; Stanford; TCU; UC Davis; UCLA; Utah; Washington and Washington State.
 
Fourteen out of these 30 programs are currently ranked among the top 50 by Scoreboard.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
On March 22-24, Howard participated in the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational, finishing 10th overall.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On April 4, the Bison will compete in the Puryear Cup, hosted by Winston-Salem State.
