Bear Huff (Riverside, Calif.) and sophomore
Michael Perusse (Pearland, Texas) led men's golf after Day One of the NCAA Regional Round in Athens, Ga. The event is held at the University of Georgia Golf Course (par-71, 7,258 yards), hosted by the Bulldogs.
Huff and Perusse each shot 2-over par (71) in 18 holes of action with six birdies combined. Currently, the Bison duo are tied for 47
th overall.
Junior
Francisco Perez (Los Mochis, Mexico) fired 8-over par (79) with a pair of birdies on holes 4 and 16.
Fellow classmate
Mathis Perroni (Metz, France) produced an 81 (+10) after round one.
Collectively, the Bison shot 22-over par (306) and sit 13
th on the team leaderboard.
No. 36 Louisville leads the pack after shooting 10-under par (274). No. 1 overall seed Auburn and No. 13 Vanderbilt are tied for second (277, -7), followed by No. 24 BYU (278, -6). Rice and No. 25 Georgia rounded out, tying for fifth place (279, -5).
No. 26 Josiah Gilbert (Auburn) sits atop the player leaderboard, firing 6-under par (65). No. 127 Warren Thomas (Louisville), No. 54 Malan Potgieter (Louisville) and Ethan Tseng (Northwestern) are tied for second place, a stroke behind Gilbert (66, -5).
NCAA Regional Round continues Tuesday (May 19) with a shotgun start time at 9:50 a.m.
