WASHINGTON (February 5, 2026) — Howard University Men's Tennis team is set to play two matches, beginning Friday (Feb. 6) against Villanova at the Bryn Mawr Country Club. Match time is 7 p.m. The match marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
The next morning (Feb. 7), HU continues its road trip in Wilmington, Del., versus Delaware. First-serve at 11 a.m.
MATCHUP PREVIEW
BISON WATCH
Howard (0-1) heads into Friday's faceoff building off the positives from the season opener at Georgetown (Jan. 31) where the Bison showed competitive effort despite the outcome. HU showed promise across singles and doubles as the spring season gets underway.
With junior
Michael Major Jr (Nassau, Bahamas) taking home MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Player of the Week, he is looking to lead the Bison to victory over the Wildcats and Blue Hens.
WILDCAT WATCH
Villanova (0-2) also enters the match up looking to rebound after recent losses against Drexel (Jan. 30) and Delaware (Jan. 31), setting tensions higher between two teams eager to gain early-season confidence.
BLUE HEN WATCH
Delaware is off to a 3-0 start this season. The nationally ranked duos in Tobey Lock/Euan Mackenzie and Federico Garbero/Itamar Tapiro lead their team in doubles. With the hot start, they intend on stepping on the gas even further.
LAST TIMEOUT
On Jan. 31, Howard fell to the Hoyas, 6-1, in its season opener. Major secured the Bison's lone point in a singles victory while freshmen
Marcus Weekes (London, United Kingdom) and
Nathan Bermeo (Durham, N.C.) showed promise in a competitive doubles performance.
