NORFOLK, Va. (February 24, 2026) – The MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) unveiled its women's tennis weekly honors where Howard University freshman Franchesca Brown (Atlanta) won the league's Rookie of the Week. The announcement came Tuesday morning.
 
Brown captured her second consecutive singles victory, rallying past VCU's Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando in three sets (5-7, 6-4, 7-5).
 
This season, Brown won both singles matches in No. 2 position for the Bison.
 
Norfolk State junior Yuliya Yurkova was named MEAC Player of the Week.
 
Howard will look to regroup and secure its first win of the season.
