CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (September 12, 2025) – Howard University men's and women's cross country teams continued their season at the Virginia Invitational, hosted by the University of Virginia (UVA), at Panorama Farms.
The women finished in eighth place with rookie
Alexis Jones (New Windsor, N.Y.) leading the way, earning an 18:36.50 mark. Subsequently, sophomore
Ester Kirk (Morristown, N.J.) recorded an 18:48.00 time.
The men finished in ninth place with freshman
Sayid Shakur (Fort Washington, Md.) placing 59
th overall in the race (26:13.90). All-MEAC selection sophomore
William Shepherd (Plano, Texas) followed, taking 74
th place (26:57.10).
UVA won the invitational duals with the top five finishers being Cavaliers. Justin Wachtel lead on the men's side, winning the race with a 23:52.60 mark. For the women, Gillian Bushee claimed first place (16:39.90).
On Oct. 4, Howard goes to Bethlehem, Pa., for the Paul Short Run, hosted by the Mountain Hawks.
