EMMITTSBURG, Md. (August 29, 2025) – Howard University men's cross country team opened its 2025 campaign with a third-place finish at the annual Mount 5K Duals, hosted by Mount St. Mary's in Emmittsburg, Md.
Freshman standout
Sayid Shakur (Fort Washington, Md.) led the way, earning ninth overall in the race with a 16:06.32 mark.
All-MEAC selection sophomore
William Shepherd (Plano, Texas) took 12
th place at 16:29.08.
Second-year Bison
Paul Robinson (Bowie, Md.) and newcomer
Ashton Thomas (Greensboro, N.C.) rounded out the top 20, finishing 18
th (16:48.29) and 19
th (16:49.59), respectively.
UMBC won the 2025 Mount 5K Duals with the first six finishers being Retrievers. Daniel Danilovitz led the pack, winning the race with a 15:31.59 time.
On Sept. 12, Howard goes to Charlottesville, Va., for the Virginia Invitational, hosted by the Cavaliers.
