GREENWOOD, Ind. (May 28, 2025) – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Committee revealed its 2024-25 Softball Division I All-District Team where Howard University saw four Bison acknowledged for their academic excellence off the field. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon (May 27).
All-Conference selections
Ameenah Ballenger (Lansdown, Pa.),
Sidney Fletcher (Whittier, Calif.),
Kenna Higa (Honolulu) and
Julia Holt (Tucson, Ariz.) were tabbed for their academic committee inside the classroom.
Ballenger displayed her talents at the plate and inside the circle. The All-MEAC First Team selection earned a 3.60 cumulative grade-point-average (GPA) while majoring in women's studies.
Fletcher, All-MEAC First Team honoree, ranked among the league leaders in several hitting categories, including hits (2
nd), RBIs (3
rd) and hit-by-pitch (1
st). The California product posted a cumulative 3.55 GPA while studying criminology.
Higa, a two-time CSC Academic All-District Team selection, made the All-MEAC First Team after finishing among the top conference sluggers. The Hawaiian native produced a cumulative 4.00 GPA while earning a degree in management.
Holt also made the CSC Academic All-District Team for the second straight year after leading the league with three saves. The All-MEAC First Team recipient registered a cumulative 3.72 GPA while pursuing a degree in history.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
Howard finished its 2025 campaign 31-20 (20-1 MEAC), winning the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Regular Season and Tournament Titles en route to its second NCAA Appearance in four years.
