NORFOLK, Va. (March 30, 2026) – The MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) revealed its softball weekly awards where Howard University junior catcher
Makyia Taylor (Temecula, Calif.) collected the league's Player of the Week honor. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
In the three-game sweep against South Carolina State (March 28-29), Taylor hit .444 in a series while recording eight RBIs, four runs scored, two homers and a double. The California native posted a 1.768 OPS, including a 1.222 slugging percentage.
This season, Taylor tops the MEAC with 2.7 RBIs per game, which ranks seventh in the country.

Aiko Conaway (Haymarket, Va.) and freshman outfielder
Amirah Lenon (Chandler, Ariz.) earned honorable mention after their performances against the Bulldogs.
Norfolk State's Samantha Stevenson earned MEAC Rookie of the Week while Morgan State's Millie Cousins was recognized as the Pitcher of the Week.
On April 3-4, Howard goes to Cary, N.C., to face North Carolina Central in a MEAC three-game series. Friday's doubleheader (April 3) is slated for 1 p.m., and Saturday's (April 4) single game is set for noon.
