KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (April 8, 2025) – Howard University men's golf team earned 12
th place at the Irish Creek Collegiate, hosted by Appalachian State University. The two-day (April 7-8), 36-hole event took place at the Club at Irish Creek (par-70, 7,002 yards) in Kannapolis, N.C.
Overall, the Bison shot 33-over par (593).
Second-year Bison
Bear Huff (Riverside, Calif.) led the way, shooting 9-over par (149) while tying for 45
th in the player leaderboard.
Fellow classmates
Mathis Perroni (Metz, France) and
Kezaia Dimosi (London, England) tied for 51
st place, firing 10-over par (150).
Fifth-year golfer
Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill.) tied for 58
th overall, recording a 151 (+11) during 36 holes of action.
Marquette won the 2025 Irish Creek Collegiate, posting a 555 (-5). Old Dominion took second place after an 8-over par (568) performance.
Marquette's Vinny Cervantes won the individual title, defeating Charles Southern's Layne Lambert in a two-hole playoff. Both golfers finished the 36-hole tourney tied at 4-under par (136).
HU will travel to Princeton, N.J., for the Princeton Invitational, hosted by Princeton University (April 12-13).
