WASHINGTON (April 5, 2025) – Howard University men's track & field team won the 2025 Bison Classic, hosted by HU and Gallaudet University (GU) in D.C.
Overall, the Bison scored 79 points with six first-place finishes.
Junior
Dylan Gaines (Houston) won a pair of races in the 200-meter dash (21.92) and 400-meter dash (48.62).
Newcomers
William Shepherd (Plano, Texas) and
Paul Robinson (Bowie, Md.) earned gold (4:09.00) and silver (4:10.10), respectively, in the 1500-meter run.
HU dominated the short-hurdles (110-meter), led by junior
Jorim Bangue (Yaoundé, Cameroon), fifth-year Bison
Ezekiel Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) and rookie
Justin Watterson (Las Vegas) sweeping the podium with times of 14.53, 14.55 and 14.98, respectively.
Other notable performance on the track included junior
Kobe Hutson (Bridgetown, Barbados) winning the 800-meter run, clocking in at 1:54.72.
In the field, junior
Andre Prince (Windsor, Conn.) and freshman
Solomon Young (Charlotte, N.C.) placed first (51.01 meters) and second (44.10 meters), respectively, in the hammer throw.
HU will travel to North Carolina for the Duke Invitational, hosted by the Blue Devils (April 11-12).
