NORFOLK, Va. (May 14, 2026) – After two scored events, the Howard University men's track & field team holds second place at the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Outdoor Championships in Norfolk, Va.
Sophomore
Tarike Lavine (Bridgetown, Barbados) led the charge with a victory in the discus, tossing 48.15 meters. Fellow classmate
Solomon Young (Charlotte, N.C.) also competed in the event, scoring four points with a fifth-place finish (44.50 meters.
Graduate sprinter
Abraham Evans (Virginia Beach, Va.) reached Championship Saturday in the 200-meter dash, posting a non-automatic qualifying time of 21.30. Saturday's (May 16) race is slated for 3:15 p.m.
Other notable performance included rookie
Sayid Shakur (Fort Washington, Md.) earning sixth overall in the 10K run, clocking in at 32:06.11.
Overall, the Bison tallied 14 points on Day One. Delaware State holds a slim four-point advantage going into Friday.
The MEAC Outdoor Championships continue Friday (May 15) with the men's & women's decathlon, beginning at 9 a.m. Field events begin at 11:30 a.m., and running events to start at 2:50 p.m.
