NORFOLK, Va. (April 2, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its women's tennis weekly honors where Howard University sophomore
Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) was selected the league's Player of the Week. The announcement came Wednesday afternoon.
Chambers dominated singles competition, winning all three MEAC matches in straight sets while extending her win streak to seven. Additionally, the Florida native went 2-1 doubles play with victories over South Carolina State, 6-4, and North Carolina Central, 6-2.
This season, Chamber holds an 8-1 singles mark, including a perfect 3-0 versus MEAC competition.
Norfolk State freshman Sofiya Tsitavets was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week.
On April 4, Howard goes to Fairfax, Va., to face DMV rival George Mason. Match time is slated for 2 p.m.
