Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season on Easter Weekend

Women’s squad faces Navy Friday; Both squads meet Coppin State on Senior Day

WASHINGTON (April 17, 2025) – Howard University tennis program wraps up the regular season on Easter Weekend.
 
The women will stop in Annapolis, Md. to face off against Navy (April 18) before both teams play their final regular season games, which will also be their Senior Day celebrations, at Banneker against Coppin State (April 19).

MATCHUP PREVIEWS
 
HOWARD WOMEN
 
The team will have to power through a tough back-to-back, starting Friday at Navy and Saturday versus Coppin State with both teams coming off convincing wins.
 
NAVY WOMEN
 
The Navy women have been trading wins and losses to close out the season. They look to end their season on a positive not in their final regular season match against the Bison.
 
COPPIN STATE WOMEN
 
The Coppin state women are coming into Saturday's showdown with a 7-0 victory over Hartford C.C.
 
HOWARD MEN
 
The men look to extend their regular season win streak against Coppin State to 10 as sophomore Mitchell Yon (Queens, N.Y.) and freshman standout Kaosie Nwokedi (Charlotte, N.C.) look to carry momentum from their last singles matches.
 
COPPIN STATE MEN
 
The Coppin State men are seeking to end the regular season on a high note as they face off against the Bison.

HOWARD WOMEN
 
The women left Baltimore with a 5-2 win against the Lady Bears. Senior Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) and second-year Bison Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) led the way with a 6-2 doubles win against Morgan State's Tyler Williams and Julia Jeffrey.
 
HOWARD MEN
 
The men suffered a 5-2 loss to the Bears despite a valiant effort from the Bison's top doubles team, senior Marcel Dawson (Columbus, Ga.) and second-year Bison Michael Major Jr (Nassau, Bahamas), who won their highly competitive doubles match, 7-6 [7-4].
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
Both teams will compete in the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Championships next weekend (April 24-26) in Cary, N.C.
