WESTON HILLS, Fla. (February 24, 2025) – Howard University women's golf team opened the spring season victorious at the 2025 Arcis HBCU Championship. The two-day event (Feb. 23-24) took place at the Club at Weston Hills (par-72, 7,272 yards).
HU won its third straight tournament this season, dating back to the fall.
Collectively, the Bison shoot 50-over par (770) with four golfers finishing in the top 10.
Junior
Morgan Horrell (Dallas) led the way, placing second with a 10-over par (190) performance.
Sophomore transfer
Paris Fieldings (Chesapeake, Va.) shot one stroke behind Horrell for third place (191, +1).
Third-year Bison
Marley Franklin (Los Angeles), the 2023 Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Year, tied for fourth place after shooting 13-over par (193).
Three-time All-NEC selection senior
Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas) rounded out the top 10, tying for 10
th in the player leaderboard (196, +16).
The first two rounds were played Sunday (Feb. 23), 18 holes each. Monday (Feb. 24), the final round was cut down to nine holes due to inclement weather.
Alabama State finished runner-up after shoot 68-over par (788), followed by Texas Southern and North Carolina A&T State tying for third overall (793, +73).
Howard is set to host the upcoming Lady Bison Intercollegiate Tournament in Gainesville, Fla. (March 3-4).
