WASHINGTON (January 30, 2025) - Howard University tennis program gears up for a stretch of three matchups throughout the weekend.

Friday (Jan. 31), the men's team begins the weekend with a matchup against Loyola (Md.) at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's (WTEF) East Capitol Campus. The following day (Feb. 1), the team travels to Newark, Del., to face off against the Delaware Blue Hens. To round out the weekend, the women's squad travels to Bucknell Sunday (Feb. 2).

HOWARD WOMEN
Â
To begin the season (Jan. 25), the Bison fell to the Georgetown Hoyas, 2-5. Helping to secure a point in doubles was

Selah Stibbins (Minneapolis),
Dana Hall (Miami) and reigning MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Freshman of the Year
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) gave the Bison a point, winning in three sets.

Entering this season, HU was projected to finish second in league behind reigning league champion South Carolina State (SCSU). The program returns all 10 student-athletes, including five All-MEAC selections.

HOWARD MEN

Friday (Jan. 24), the men's squad fell to the Hoyas, 0-7.

A year ago, HU men went 6-11 overall (2-3 MEAC) and made the MEAC Semifinal Round before falling to eventual champion SCSU. The program returns five Bison, led by All-MEAC selections

Michael Major, Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas).

LOYOLA MEN

This would be the first match of the season for the Greyhounds

Last season, the Greyhounds finished seventh in the conference with a 7-14 (2-5 Patriot League).

DELAWARE MEN
Â
The Blue Hens have started off the season strong with a 2-0 record, including victories over Morgan State and Villanova.

A year ago, Delaware went 16-4 overall with a 4-1 mark in league play.

BUCKNELL WOMEN
Â
The Bison are coming off back-to-back losses against Villanova and Delaware; thus, starting the season with a 0-2 record.

Last season, the squad went 10-13 overall with a 2-5 mark in conference play.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Friday (Feb. 7), both teams host Temple at the WTEF East Capitol Campus. First-serve at 12:30 p.m. The following day (Feb. 8), HU women face Maryland in College Park, Md. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
