ROCKVILLE, Md. (September 10, 2024) – Howard University men's golf team hosted the third annual HU-USF Intercollegiate where the Bison finished ninth overall. The two-day, 54-hole event took place at Manor Country Club (par-70, 6,729 yards) in Rockville, Md., co-hosted by the University of San Franciso (USF).
Overall, HU shot 38-over par (878) with its best round coming on Day One (291, +11).
Fifth-year senior
Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill.) led the Bison, shooting 5-over par (215) in 54 holes while tying for 18
th. In the final round, he closed out the tourney strong with an even par (70) performance.
Second-year Bison
Mitchell Grey (Mississauga, Canada) registered a 6-over par (216) performance, including a 2-under par (68) effort in round two, tying for 21
st in the player leaderboard.
Fellow classmate
Mathis Perroni (Metz, France) made his Bison debut, shooting 12-over par (222) while tying for 38
th overall.
Princeton won the 2024 HU-USF Intercollegiate, recording 12-under par (828) in three days, led by Riccardo Fantinelli, who won the individual medal (200, -10). Loyola (Md.) finished runner-up (843, +3).
On Sept. 21-22, HU travels to nearby Annapolis, Md., for The Goat, hosted by the Naval Academy.
