BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (August 26, 2024) – The Northeast Conference (NEC) uncovered its women's soccer weekly honors where Howard University swept the accolades. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
Sophomore forward
Mimi Richards (Silver Spring, Md.) earned NEC Player of the Week for the second consecutive week while freshman goalie
Nya-Grace Young (Ontario, Canada) claimed the league's Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.
Richards registered her third goal of the season in a tie versus George Mason (Aug. 22). Currently, DMV native leads the league in total goals (3) and total points (6).
Young made her collegiate debut in the stalemate against George Mason, racking up seven saves. As of today, she ranks second in the conference with a .778 save percentage.
This week, both Bison were named to the NEC Prime Performers list.
On Sept. 1, Howard begins its brief two-match home stand versus UMBC on Brison Pride and Faculty Appreciation Day. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., at Greene Stadium.
