Men’s Tennis Meets No. 57 Delaware Thursday

Bison clash with nationally ranked Blue Hens in Newark

WASHINGTON (April 3, 2024) – Howard University men's tennis program will face nationally ranked No. 57 Delaware (DEL) Thursday (April 4) at 1 p.m. in Newark, Del. The contest was originally scheduled for April 3 but moved due to inclement weather.

HU (3-9) faced tough losses in Cary, N.C., dropping all three contests in the annual Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Round-Up at Cary Tennis Park. Despite the losses, senior Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) received MEAC honorable mention.
 
This season, Cadeau and freshman Michael Major, Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) led the squad with singles victories (5). In doubles play, the Bison duo are 6-5 overall together.
 
DELAWARE
 
Delaware (13-1) experienced its first loss of the season against No. 71 UNCW, 4-1, Wednesday (March 27).
 
Looking ahead, the Blue Hens are eager to bounce back as they prepare to take on Howard this week, aiming to secure a decisive victory.
 
Javier Ruiz leads the Blue Hens with a 18-5 mark in singles competition. Tobey Lock and Euan Mackenzie spearhead doubles play, posting a 17-4 overall record.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
HU went 0-3 during the annual MEAC Round Up, falling to rivals Norfolk State, 6-1, South Carolina State, 6-1, and North Carolina Central, 5-2.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On Monday (April 15), Howard gets ready for an exhilarating match as they gear up to take on Coppin State in Baltimore.
