NORFOLK, Va. (March 20, 2024) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's tennis weekly awards where Howard University junior
Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) claimed the league's Player of the Week honor. The announcement came Wednesday.
Butcher won all three singles matches during the week. The Florida native served in the top position, winning all three contests in straight sets.
Freshman
Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) received honorable mention after finishing the week with back-to-back victories at No. 2 singles position.
North Carolina Central freshman Patricia Palencia was named MEAC Women's Rookie of the Week.
On March 22-24, Howard goes to Cary, N.C., for the annual Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Round Up. Friday (March 22), HU opens the three-day event against reigning MEAC champion South Carolina State at noon.
