CARY, N.C. (April 24, 2025) – Howard University women's tennis saw its title hopes come to an end, falling to rival Morgan State (MSU), 4-2, at the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Quarterfinals in Cary, N.C.
With the setback, HU finished the season 9-9 overall.
MSU (7-17) took an early 1-0 match lead after winning a pair of doubles matches.
All-MEAC selections senior
Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) and sophomore
Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) served as the club's No. 2 doubles team where they held a 5-4 advantage before the contest was declared unfinished.
In singles competition, All-MEAC honorees senior
Nadia Pegram (Naples, Fla.) and sophomore
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won their respective matches in straight sets.
Chambers dropped a hard-fought three-set contest to MSU's Marta Serra Carles (2-6, 6-4, 2-6).
Morgan State won the other two singles matches in straight sets and advanced to Friday's semifinal round against North Carolina Central.

Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) competed in their final collegiate match as a Bison. Together, the trio won 38 contests with a 18-6 mark in league play. In 2022, they went on to win the MEAC Regular Season title after going a perfect 6-0 in conference play.
