Bison blank Eagles in regular season finale

WASHINGTON (April 19, 2025) – Howard University women's tennis team rolled past Coppin State (CSU) on Senior Day, blanking the Eagles, 7-0, at Banneker Recreation Center in D.C.

With the victory, HU closed out the regular season winning its last four MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) matches.

Before the match, Howard Director of Tennis Nicholas Askew and Associate Head Coach Zach Tobias recognized three Bison for their hard work and dedication to the program: Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.); Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) and Nadia Pegram (Naples, Fla.).

Howard took an early 1-0 match lead after winning all three doubles contests.

Pegram and second-year Bison Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) served as the squad's top doubles team, taking down CSU's Brand Babcock-Hannah and Megan Etienne, 6-4.

Grayson and sophomore Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) topped Coppin State's Sky Carter and Kyla Proctor, 6-2, in the No. 2 slot.

Sophomores Dana Hall (Miami) and Lauren Oliver (Winston-Salem, N.C.) blanked the Eagles' Abigail Perue and Alison Azarak, 6-0.

In singles competition, Oliver rallied to defeat Perue in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 1-0 [10-8]).

Sophomore Hanna Dessie (Los Angeles) competed in the No. 6 spot, winning her first singles collegiate match over Azarak (6-2, 6-0).

HU won the other four singles contests in straight sets.
