CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (December 7, 2024) – Howard University men's track & field team won the 2024 HBCU & Ivy Challenge, hosted by Harvard University, in Cambridge, Mass.
Overall, the Bison had four first-place finishes while breaking three meet records. Harvard finished runner-up, registering 84 points.
Graduate
Noah Langford (Virginia Beach, Va.), junior
Dylan Gaines (Houston) and newcomers
Cameron Brazell (Houston) and
Elijah Grant (Fort Mill, S.C.) represented Bison Nation in the 4x400 relay squad where they earned first place with a 3:13.77 time (meet record).
Individually, Langford and junior
Jorim Bangue (Yaoundé, Cameroon) received second (8.00) and third (8.11), respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles. Fifth-year Bison
Zachary Hawkins (Lithonia, Ga.) won the race with a new meet benchmark (7.95).
Rookies
William Shepherd (Plano, Texas) and
Paul Robinson (Bowie, Md.) claimed first (2:36.09) and second (2:40.67), respectively, in the 1000-meter run.
In the field, senior
Kyle Fisher (Duluth, Ga.) took gold in the long jump after leaping 7.51 meters (meet record).
On Dec. 13, Howard goes to Staten Island, N.Y., for the annual Seahawk Shootout, hosted by Wagner College.
