BETHLEHEM, Pa. (October 5, 2024) – Howard University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 50
th annual Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
During the two-day festivities (Oct. 4-5), HU faced top runners throughout the country at all levels in collegiate athletics.
Senior
Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.) and newcomer
Eyob Gill (Arden, N.C.) led the way for HU.
Crosby finished in the top-third, setting a new program record (21.27.80), in the women's college Gold 6K race. She shattered the previous 18-year benchmark, held by Jessica Neal (2006, 21:46.00).
Fellow classmate
Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.) and rookie
Mira Martin (Columbus, Ohio) finished behind the Louisiana native, clocking in at 22:57.10 and 23:02.10, respectively.
Gill led the men with a 26.15.30 time in the men's college gold 8K event, followed by freshman
Habtamu Epley (Chicago) and
William Shepherd (Plano, Texas) with marks of 26:24.70 and 27:02.90, respectively.
Overall, the men and women placed 43
rd and 40
th, respectively.
Wingate men won the 8K race while Harvard women claimed the 6K event.
Utah State's Camren Todd took home the men's individual medal (23:18.80) while UConn's Chloe Thomas earned gold in the women's race (19:23.80).
On Oct. 18, HU hosts the Bison Invite at Kenilworth Park in D.C.
