WASHINGTON (October 23, 2024) -The Howard golf program travels to Suwanee, Ga., for the Bridgestone HBCU Invitational, presented by Bridgestone and the PGA tour. The two-day (Oct. 24-25), 54-hole event takes place at the Laurel Springs Country Club.

HISTORY
Laurel Springs Golf Club in Suwanee, Georgia opened in 1998. Jack Nicklaus designed the Laurel Springs Golf Club to be a challenging and beautiful par-71 layout. The golf course features rolling hills, tree-lined fairways and undulating greens, protected by lakes and creeks. Designed to offer maximum enjoyment and challenge for players of all skill levels, the golf course is a perfect complement to this one-of-a-kind community.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
The most recent golf tournament played at Laurel Springs Golf Club in Suwanee, Georgia was the 95
th Georgia Women's Amateur Championship, which was won by Sara Im.
The tournament aims to achieve greater diversity in golf through increased focus on developing talent from diverse and historically underrepresented groups.
Schools competing in this year's event include Howard, Alabama State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Florida A&M, Miles College, Morehouse College, North Carolina A&T State, North Carolina Central, Southern, Texas Southern and Tennessee State.
LAST TIMEOUT
On Oct. 21-22, three Bison traveled to Oklahoma City for the Jackson T. Stephens Cup.
Fifth-year Bison
Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill.) finished 5-over par (215) while tying for 11
th in the player leaderboard.
Senior
Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas) tied for 13
th overall on the women's side, firing 13-over par (223), while sophomore
Emily Mayne (Kingston, Jamaica) registered 243 strokes (+33) in three rounds of action.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Nov. 2-4, the women's team heads to Frisco, Texas for the Eastside Golf Invitational.
