Columbia, Mo. (September 26, 2023) – Howard University women's golf team dropped two slots after day two of the Johnie Imes Invitational, hosted by the Mizzou Tigers.
On Day Two, the Bison shot 11-over par (299). After 36 holes of play, HU sits in 10
th place (596, +20) with one round remaining.
Junior
Kendall Jackson (Pearland, Texas) moved up four spots on the individual leaderboard after recording 1-over par (73) in round two. The two-time All-NEC selection produced three birdies on the afternoon while shooting 1-under par (35) during the final nine holes. Currently, she is tied for 22
nd overall (147, +3).
Newcomer
Emily Mayne (Kingston, Jamaica) also jumped up the standings, registering 2-over par (74) on day two. After shooting 2-under par (34) during the front nine, the Jamaica product was unable to sustain the momentum down the stretch. After two rounds, she sits tied for 38
th (150, +6) with teammate sophomore
Morgan Horrell (Dallas).
Second-year Bison
Marley Franklin (Los Angeles) posted a four-over par performance (76) on day two, including even par (36) on the back nine, and ranks tied for 32
nd in the player leaderboard.
Lipscomb has taken control of the team standings after shooting seven-under par (281) on day two. Currently, they sit 9-under (567) after 36 holes of play. Missouri has stormed into the second slot (572, -4), producing an incredible 10-under par (278) during round two. Florida International (FIU) dropped to third place (575, -1) with day one remaining.
Individually, FIU's Augustina Gomez Cisterna holds the top spot for the second straight day. She shot 1-under (71) on day two and 8-under (136) after 36 holes. Northern Illinois' Jasmine Ly, Missouri's Jade Zamora and Lipscomb's Lauren Thompson all trail Cisterna by three strokes (139, -5).
The final round will begin with a 9 a.m. (ET) / 8 a.m. (CT) shotgun start.
