WASHINGTON (March 30, 2026) – Before its appearance in the NEC Championships next month, the Howard University women's golf team closes its spring season in Katy, Texas for the annual Women in Golf National Collegiate, hosted by The Women in Golf Foundation. The multi-day competition event takes place March 31- April 1 at The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch.
HISTORY
This year marks the 31
st installment of the National Women's Collegiate Golf Championship and Howard's third year appearing in the competition. HU has won the previous two tournaments (2024 & 2025).
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
The Gulf Coast Golfer is a 6,922-yard championship golf course, designed by Carlton Gipson in the early 1990s and sits just outside of Houston. The 18-hole course has a par-71 with a 133 slope.
This 54-hole stroke play event will also feature a networking session with golf executives, career development workshops and championship rounds. Division I champions are awarded the Renee Powell Cup, honoring the trailblazing LPGA professional, while Division II champions receive the LaJean Gould Cup, named for the visionary founder of the Women in Golf Foundation.
LAST TIMEOUT
On March 2-3, Howard delivered a strong performance at the Lady Bison Intercollegiate, finishing second overall after three rounds Gainesville, Fla.
Junior
Paris Fieldings (Chesapeake, Va.) led the way, placing fourth overall (224, +11). For her efforts, she was named NEC Women's Golfer of the Week (March 4).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
For the NEC Championships, the Bison will travel to Elliot City, Md. (April 17-19).
