Track & Field Leads the Pack in MEAC All-Academic Honors

29 Bison recognized for their achievements off the track

NORFOLK, Va. (May 8, 2023) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its men's and women's outdoor track & field all-academic honors where Howard University led the way with a conference-best 29 Bison. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
 
Overall, the MEAC honored 172 student-athletes from the conference's eight member institutions who have achieved academic success.
 
"Congratulations to our outdoor track & field All-Academic student-athletes," MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills said. "Education is the cornerstone of everything we do, both at the conference level and in intercollegiate athletics as a whole. Academic achievement is just as worthy of praise as anything accomplished in competition, if not more so."
 
The 29 student-athletes acknowledged for their efforts off the track included Mekhi Abbott (Monroe, N.J.), Ayoade Adebiyi (Virginia Beach, Va.), Dylan Beard (Baltimore), Kaleb Berry (Duncanville, Texas), Jermanie Byrd (Miami Gardens, Fla.), Joslyn Crosby (Bossier City, La.), De'ja Dade (DeSoto, Texas), Goba Dan-Princewill (Houston), Ashton Daniel (Athens, Ga.), Kameron Davis (Miami), Chase Drewery (Waldorf, Md.), Kaya-Rae Dunbar (Burtonsville, Md.), Camille Egbula (Simpsonville, S.C.), Kyle Fisher (Duluth, Ga.), Erin Hatcher (Burtonsville, Md.), Jasmyn Hunter (Flossmoor, Ill.), Ja'Tae Joyner (Bowie, Md.), Cameron Kennedy (Dallas), Darci Khan (Stockbridge, Ga.), Julian Lawson (Sewell, N.J.), Breanna McDonald (Bethesda, Md.), Ezra Monteiro (Newport, R.I.), Cathrina Morris (Auburndale, Fla.), Nnamdi Olebara (Bowie, Md.), Tiffani-Rae Pittman (Bowie, Md.), Minyarn Smalls (Cary, N.C.), Lamaria Washington (Miami), Monika Williams (Denver) and Jessica Wright (Durham, N.C.).
 
MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA), as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for All-Academic accolades.
 
HU prepares for the MEAC Outdoor Championships in Norfolk, Va. (May 9-11).
