WASHINGTON (May 26, 2026) – Howard University track & field program sends 13 Bison to Lexington, Ky., to compete in the 2026 NCAA East Preliminary Round. The four-day event (May 27-30) is hosted by the University of Kentucky.

MEET PREVIEW
Thursday (May 21), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) unveiled its Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships First Round Preliminaries where HU sends 13 Bison across 10 events.
MEN
Friday (May 29), sophomore
Drew Dillard (Silver Spring, Md.) competes in the high jump at 2 p.m.
Later that evening, fifth-year Bison
Sean Wray (Stafford, Va.) gears up for the triple jump at 6 p.m.
WOMEN
Thursday (May 28), graduate
Marcia Sey (London, United Kingdom), senior
Lauren Thompson (Frisco, Texas) and sophomore
Lindsay Johnson (Detroit) represent Bison Nation in the short hurdles (100-meter) at 6 p.m.
An hour later (7 p.m.), juniors
Yahnari Lyons (Hampton, Ga.) and
Mackenzie Robinson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) prepare for the 100-meter dash.
At 7:50 p.m., sophomore
Tiffany Mugubi (Houston) competes in the 800-meter race.
Three Bison enter the long hurdles (400-meter) at 8:20 p.m.: Johnson; senior
Aniya Woodruff (Harrisburg, N.C.) and sophomore
Cenaiya Billups (Denver).
HU closes out Thursday with a pair of Bison taking part in the 200-meter dash at 8:45 p.m.: Lyons and freshman
Nilijah Darden (Greensboro, N.C.).
On the track at 5 p.m., Darden, Lyons, Robinson and Sey start Saturday (May 30) with the 4x100 relay. Junior sprinter
Aiyana Gray-Williams (Winston-Salem, N.C.) will be ready to fill-in, if needed.
Senior
Kelis Armstrong (Plano, Texas) competes in the triple jump at 6 p.m.
The 4x400 relay team of Billups, Johnson, Turner and Woodruff finishes the weekend at 8:45 p.m. Lyons, Robinson and freshman
Carrie Vannoy (Oak Park, Mich.) are reserves, if needed.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Qualifiers from the meet will advance to the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held June 10-13 in Eugene, Ore.
