DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 1, 2023) – Howard University senior standout
Gregory Odom Jr. (Memphis, Tenn.) is in a three-way tie for first place after Day Two of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships, held at the LPGA International course (par-72, 6880 yards) in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Memphis native shot even par (72) in round two and one-over par (145) after 36 holes.
Fellow classmate
Everett Whiten Jr. (Chesapeake, Va.) also shot even par (72) on the day with five birdies, including three straight during the front nine. Currently, the Virginia product holds fourth place in the player standings (146, +2).
Junior
Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill.) recorded three birdies in round two, but a pair of double bogeys on the back nine dropped him to 4-over par (76). He sits tied for 15
th overall.
Collectively, the Bison duplicated yesterday's performance with another 9-over par (297) effort. HU dropped one spot, but only five strokes off the lead.
LIU remains atop the team leaderboard (589, +13), followed by reigning NEC Champion Sacred Heart (592, +16).
Individually, LIU's Marcelo Mexsen and the Pioneers' Pablo Lacayo share the lead with Odom.
The action concludes Tuesday (May 2) with the third round, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
