WASHINGTON (April 15, 2023) – Sunday (April 16), the Howard University tennis program is back in The District, set to host the Coppin State (CSU) Eagles for Senior Day at the Banneker Recreation Center. First serve for this conference matchup is set for 1 p.m.
HOWARD
Both teams will enter this weekend with confidence, looking to secure a victory over rival CSU.
Currently, the men have established a seven-match winning streak versus CSU while the Lady Bison have racked up eight straight against the Eagles.
Before Sunday's showdown, three Bison will be recognized for their hard work and dedication to the program:
Alexandra Blackwell (Austin, Texas);
Yemisi Ifederu (London, England) and
Emnet Simunyola (Lorton, Va.). The Senior Day festivities start at 12:45 p.m.
COPPIN STATE
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Player of the Week, Vansh Kapoor, hopes to lead his team in breaking their losing streak against the Bison. This is his second-straight week holding the MEAC title.
Both teams are coming off a successful week with singles victories for Kapoor and the Lady Eagles sweeping doubles matches against Wagner.
LAST TIMEOUT
Although the men came up short in their recent match against Navy Midshipmen, 6-1, sophomore standout
Daniel Dunac (Washington) led his teammates with a hard-earned singles win. This was Dunac's third singles win of the spring campaign.
For the women, they fell short in their final nonconference match on the season at Longwood, 4-3.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On April 27-29, both squads return to Cary, N.C., for the MEAC Championships.
