WAYNESBORO, Pa. (October 16, 2022) – After a tough opening weekend, the Howard University women's bowling team rebounded with five victories at the annual Mount Shootout, hosted by Mount St. Mary's University.
On Day One, HU picked up a pair of wins in Baker play. Howard knocked off Pittsburgh-Greensburg, 776-685, and Felician, 788-768. Howard dropped the other three Baker matches to No. 12 Delaware State (DSU), 941-824, No. 11 Mount St. Mary's, 940-804, and Coppin State, 847-774.
The next day, junior
Aleyana DeBrest (Philadelphia) led Howard to victory over Felician, 788-768, in traditional play with a team-best 194. Senior
Vanessa Johnson (Chicago) rolled a 209 in the win over Pittsburgh-Greensburg, 823-729.
Freshman standout
Cameren Sullivan (Chicago) averaged 181.6 in five traditional matches, including a career-best 215 in the setback to No. 12 DSU, and finished ninth overall.
HU wrapped up the weekend with a five-game victory against Felician in a best-of-seven Baker match.
Mount St. Mary's won the event with a 9-1 mark and The Mount's Alyssa Alexander took home the individual medal, averaging a 210.8 in five traditional matches.
On Nov. 4-6, Howard heads to Midlothian, Va., for the Virginia Union Invitational.
