NEW CASTLE, Del. (October 9, 2022) – Howard University women's bowling team opened the 2022-23 campaign with a pair of victories at the annual Bud Whitman Invitational, hosted by Chestnut Hill College in New Castle, Del.
On Day Two, junior
Aleyana DeBrest (Philadelphia) led the Bison to victory over Pittsburgh-Greensburg in traditional competition. HU knocked off the Bobcats, 755-638, with the Philly native rolling a team-best 197.
Despite winning the first traditional match, HU was unable to keep the momentum, dropping the other four contests, including to No. 12 Delaware State, 949-755.
In traditional play, DeBrest averaged a 169 in five matches and finished 23
rd overall individually.
In the squad's final match, Howard defeated the Bobcats again, this time in a best-of-seven Baker match. HU took down Pittsburgh-Greensburg, 4.5-1.5.
On Day One, Howard dropped all five Baker matches, including a setback against No. 11 Mount St. Mary's, 1,109-749.
Wilmington (Del.) won the 2022 Bud White Invitational, defeating Molloy in six games (4-2). Individually, Coppin State's Logan Brown took home the individual medal after averaging 205.6 in five traditional matches.
On Oct. 15-16, HU travels to Waynesboro, Pa., for the annual Mount Shootout, hosted by Mount St. Mary's.
